Although we do it anyway, we can’t beat ourselves up for life choices we made that we didn’t know how not to make. Yes, midlife really kicks us in the ass, says: “Time to wake up!” It’s a painful Icarus moment (or, as is more often the case, a series of Icarus moments). It’s lifelong work, this waking up to ourselves and our mortality, this dismantling of the ego. I think this is why Jung believed that psychotherapy (analysis) is really meant for people in midlife and beyond. Keep writing down your dreams. I’m glad your mom finally got her counters.❤️☕️
